Peninsula Interactive can deliver both our own Digital Skills sessions as well as BeConnected sessions and training plans. Its important to remember that BeConnected sessions and training plans are only available to villages and organizations via self or grant funding and must be free to attend. Furthermore BeConnected topics cannot be booked by individual people. BeConnected sessions will always cover the content but may be reformatted into seminar or group activities to suit the teaching requirements.

BeConnected

The Absolute Basics

The absolute basics is a great introductory session that gets residents comfortable with the different types of devices around (Android, Apple, Windows) and touches on a introduction to the internet.

Most residents can skip this session as its primarily aimed at beginners, people with a smart phone as their day to day device should be sufficiently skilled and do not need to undertake the session.

Getting To Know Your Device & All About Your Device (Android / Apple)

To streamline the learning process we will run a session that is called “Getting to know your device”. This session will cover the content for both “getting to know your device” and the relevant “All about your device” topic. Residents will be placed in device family groups for this and each session will be tailored to cover that device group.

Depending on sign up and group sizes tablet device variants will either be ran as their own session or will simply join the relevant iPhone or Android category. The tablets operate so close to the phone variants that this works well for residents.

All About Apps
This session builds on the ground work above and starts to teach residents all they need to know about Apps, It will cover the following topics:
- What are apps?
- Apps vs websites
- Getting Apps
- Managing and deleting apps
- Assessing quality apps
BeConnected: All about apps
Saftey First
Saftey first builds the skills and concepts that residents can use to stay safe online! We recommend running this session before running “Online Banking”, “Online Shopping” or “Social Media” to build a solid framework of safety focused approach before reaching those topics. Items covered in the session:
- Safe Passwords
- Paying safely online
- Avoiding scams and tricks
- When do you need anti virus?
BeConnected: Saftey First
All About Data
This skill builder sessions teaches residents all they need to know about data.
- What is data?
- Broadband vs mobile
- Data usage & choosing a plan
- Going overseas
- Managing your data
BeConnected: All about data
The Cloud
This sessions tarts to build residents confidence in understanding and using the cloud and cloud based services. This session will depend on the device group of the residents and will be tailored either to Apple or Google cloud. Please refer to the BeConnected content for both cloud topics.
